Australian artist Mark Rode studied at Queensland College of Art, after which his initial occupation was as a graphic artist. Becoming dissillusioned with the creative restrictions in the industry he focussed his attention on figurative sculpture. Curious to see the wider world and European art, Mark left Australia in 1998. After travelling the continent he worked in the UK with the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds and then Bronze Age art foundry in London, all while making his work and exhibiting. After meeting Irish artist Jacinta Guinan, he moved to Ireland in 2002. Eventually moving to a rural area in the West of Ireland, Mark set up a studio and foundry where he has continued to make his sculpture for exhibition and public work.
